Wymagania

Candidates for this exam should:

• Experience with ROSA STS PrivateLink clusters
• Experience with external container registries such as Amazon ECR and Quay.io
• Experience configuring storage classes and security contexts to enable application access to different EBS volume types
• Experience configuring storage classes and security contexts to enable application access to different EFS storage volumes
• Experience configuring pod identity using STS/IRSA to enable application access to AWS services such as databases (Aurora), integration (SQS), and object storage (S3)
• Experience provisioning AWS services with AWS Controllers for Kubernetes
• Familiarity with federation and query of application metrics with Amazon Managed Prometheus Service
• Familiarity with structured application logs with Amazon CloudWatch
• Experience with autoscaling with ROSA clusters
• Experience working in a Linux command line environment. Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or equivalent knowledge is recommended

Study points for the exam

To help you prepare, the exam objectives highlight the task areas you can expect to see covered in the exam. Red Hat reserves the right to add, modify, and remove exam objectives. Such changes will be made public in advance.

As part of this exam, you should be able to perform these tasks:

1. Deploy applications from external registries
   • Configure ROSA projects with Quay.io
   • Configure ROSA projects with Amazon Elastic Container Registry
2. Provide Amazon storage volumes for applications
   • Configure storage classes for different Elastic Block Storage volume types.
   • Configure ROSA to use Elastic Filesystem Storage shares
3. Configure application access to AWS services
   • Understand IAM Roles for Service Accounts (IRSA)
   • Provision AWS infrastructure and services using AWS Controllers for Kubernetes
4. Configure observability for OpenShift on AWS
   • Configure structured application logging
   • Query application logs from Cloudwatch
   • Configure user workload monitoring with AWS Managed Service for Prometheus
5. Configure node and pod autoscaling
   • Create node pools
   • Schedule pods to node pools
   • Configure workload autoscaling
   • Configure cluster node autoscaling

Preparation

Red Hat encourages you to consider taking Creating and Configuring Production ROSA Clusters (CS220) and Integrating ROSA Applications with AWS Services (CS221) to help prepare.  Attendance in these classes is not required; students can choose to take just the exam.

While attending Red Hat classes can be an important part of your preparation, attending class does not guarantee success on the exam. Previous experience, practice, and native aptitude are also important determinants of success.

Many books and other resources on system administration for Red Hat products are available. Red Hat does not endorse any of these materials as preparation guides for exams. Nevertheless, you may find additional reading helpful to deepen your understanding.

Exam format

The Red Hat Certified Specialist in ROSA exam is a hands-on, practical exam that requires you to undertake real-world tasks. Limited internet access to the online documentation is provided during the exam. You will not be permitted to bring any hard copy or electronic documentation into the exam. This prohibition includes notes, books, or any other materials. For most exams, the documentation that ships with the product is available during the exam.

Scores and reporting   

Official scores for exams come exclusively from Red Hat Certification Central. Red Hat does not authorize examiners or training partners to report results to candidates directly. Scores on the exam are usually reported within 3 U.S. business days.

Exam results are reported as total scores. Red Hat does not report performance on individual items, nor will it provide additional information upon request.
